My monster goes by many names. Funny Face, Steeplechase Face, Steeplechase Jack, Tillie—all at one time or another given to Coney Island’s de facto mascot. But to me he’s just “The Face.” He’s a cheeky man with leering eyes and a flat Edwardian haircut parted in the middle and curled at either end into two nubby horns.
